Tough Plastics for the Textile Industry
To those outside the industry, it may seem that screen printing would be a gentle process. After all it’s just transferring ink onto fabric and other materials, right?
Wrong. Screen printing can be brutal on equipment and it’s one of the areas plastics really shine. The reason is that plastic, unlike other, more traditional, materials has a number of unique properties. For example, plastic is self-lubricating- there’s no excess friction with plastic rollers or machine beds. It is resistant to chemicals – many types of plastic can stand up to the ongoing exposure to a variety of inks and wash clean, plus because it is anti-absorbent, there is no worry of bacteria buildup or mold growth. This is especially important for the ongoing use of squeegees and frames in screen printing.
Plastics also come in a wide range of colors allowing for easy identification of different uses and plastic will outlast wood and metal components making them far more affordable.
Regardless of volume, or material for printing, plastics make the ideal medium for screen printing components. Download the PDF for Textile Industry applications and performance plastic parts.
