A Shift in Perspective
Our industry continues to grow and develop into a better, more efficient, more sustainable organization. Recycling has always been a hot topic when it comes to plastics and lately E-cycling in particular has been a hot topic. For those of you who don’t know, E-cycling is the process of recycling plastic parts from electronics to create new electronics. E-cycling has become a huge industry, worth over 20 billion dollars.
Across the board we have seen an increase in popularity of recycled plastic products coming to market in a variety of different industries from streets being paved using asphalt mixed in with recycled plastics to Adidas creating new sneakers using recycled plastics from the ocean to Samsung’s new phone made from recycled plastic.
There has been so much scrutiny in the industry regarding plastic being such a wasteful material. Thanks to these big players and their initiatives, the view is starting to shift from “ban plastics, it needs to go” to “let’s recycle and find new ways to re-use this material”. We are even seeing new plastic recycling plants being created all over the world. This is a huge step forward for not just the plastics industry but for the world.
We’re interested in seeing what new products come to market in 2017 and what new uses people will find for recycled plastics.
